The Sony MZ-DH10P (2005) is one of the most unique and rare of Sony's MiniDisc Recorders. It combined MD, Hi-MD, and a DIGITAL CAMERA into one unit, just a bit thicker than the similar-looking MZ-NH1. Sure, the 1.3 MegaPixel resolution doesn't sound like much now, but back then it was probably like a piece of the future to combine everything into one device.
Thanks to MDcon.Live, I was able to get a chance to work on these beautiful units. The silver one could write to disc, but it had a bad sensor. The black one couldn't write to disc, but had a good sensor. I think you know what's about to happen...
If you want to see more MD units in-person - check out the schedule at https://mdcon.live !
Please check out the video for details, but I've added some pics here for reference
Two Sony MZ-DH10P O_O |
The first screw to remove is the one by the headphone jack |
The next two are on the bottom edge |
Just the two end screws here - we don't need to remove the middle one unless you're taking off the whole side plate |
If you need to remove the side panel, you can just pull the battery door straight out |
Slide the eject lever over and pry away from the headphone jack side |
There's the sensor and the two flex cable connections |
sensor close-up - note that left flex cable and how it is routed |
To remove the sensor, lift from the bottom |
