I’m an American citizen with Vietnamese blood that was born in Tokyo, Japan. I would like to use my technical experience (at a manufacturer, partner, and with our customers) and creativity to help a company increase sales and build loyal, happy customers. Beyond Cisco, I keep up with many types of technology including enterprise hardware, software, applications, etc. Personally, I also follow consumer technology trends in PCs, tablets, phones, gaming, etc.

I’ve built and managed engineering teams from all over the world (from interns to CCIEs) for more than two decades and love building, supporting, empowering and developing teams of intelligent people.

Customer Success Manager, Architect – IBM
(May 2021 – Current)
I joined the Cloud and Cognitive Solutions team to help IBM customers adopt and deploy their technology entitlements to maximize value. On a daily basis, I’m talking with different customer contacts from CXOs to Directors to Engineers and aligning with our internal sales teams (technical and pure sales) to ensure the customer is taken care of on all fronts. Though I focus on the IBM Cloud Paks for Multi-Cloud Management and Watson AIOps, I also am working on Red Hat OpenShift, Ansible, Maximo Visual Inspection, and general AI/ML use-cases.

Cisco Practice Manager – Sterling
(2020 – May 2021)
I was brought in based on my experience with Cisco to help achieve Gold status and grow the Cisco business. In my first 30 days, I helped organize the audit teams and we delivered (I led the entire audit and presales demo) a flawless performance with no action items (based on my 5 audits and what we’ve heard from the auditors, that was a new record). I am now helping them plan a delivery and presales structure along with go-to-market strategies in key markets.

Director of Solutions Architecture – Netsync
(2016 – 2019)
Netsync is a highly recognized (Cisco SLED Partner of the Year – current and many
prior years) infrastructure and services provider in Texas. My role led the Solutions Architects or PreSales Engineering team and managed goals including partnering with vendors (i.e. Cisco, VMware, F5, NetApp, EMC, Pure Storage, AWS, etc.), ongoing training/conventions, process improvement, business development & marketing, etc. I also acted as an escalation point for issues with customers and vendors. I’ve also formed and developed an RFP response team to help respond to RFP/bids in a more efficient manner while providing consistently high-quality responses. The team’s numbers
have grown year over year since I joined in 2016 from ~300, ~400, 466 (2018) with only 1 additional headcount. This entire team consists of more than 40 people including a team of 27 Solutions Architects which are all high-level PreSales engineers
that interface with our customers on a daily basis. They are divided into “standard” infrastructure practices including Enterprise Networking and Wireless, Data Center, Collaboration, etc and are mostly in Texas, but a handful are in Florida and California. I also helped lead a successful Gold audit, Master Collaboration and Master Security audit. Additionally, I manage smaller teams including SmartNet/Renewals, RFP coordinators, and a Corporate Editing team. I’m working with two practice managers to build custom solutions leveraging a Cisco UC platform and for school/campus safety and security.
Netsync grew from ~$120MM to over $300MM in revenue during my time there.

Sr. Director of Professional Services, Gulf Coast – Presidio
(2015-2016)
I’m in charge of growing and developing the delivery team in all facets including: Delivery Excellence, Continuous Education, Soft Skills, Career Development, etc. I also work closely with customers to get feedback on the delivery process and provide pre-sales expertise as necessary (especially in accounts where I have prior relationships). P&L responsibilities for Gulf Coast delivery engineers.

Customer Sales Engineer, Collaboration, Enterprise South – Cisco
(2014-2015)
I provide sales and technical support focused around Collaboration including CUCM, Webex, and Contact Center to about 16 Enterprise customers in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. Have been awarded a Connected Recognition award within my first 3 months for solving a tough customer problem at a large healthcare system. Cover large accounts like USAA, Baker Hughes, Conoco Phillips, and large healthcare providers in Houston.

Owner/Founder – The Technical Initiative
(2009 – Current)
The Technical Initiative is my own consulting company that’s been in business since 2009 (and was majority owner of Antero Solutions and equity partner of The Broadleaf Group which was acquired in 2014).
I have provided leadership and guidance to multiple companies that needed help growing their Cisco business. This included, but was not limited to, compensation and team structure discussions, vendor alignment and strategy, ISO 27001 consulting (preparing and executing a Phase 1 audit), training for new Vendor Management representatives, etc.

Acted as product/project manager for a development team that’s engaged in digital transformation for a rail services company. I worked with the customer, UX/UI designer and developers to ensure the product was on track with MVP due by July 2020. We’re utilizing MS Azure and Azure DevOps along with InVision and Zeplin for prototyping.
